Large Calathea Makoyana Peacock Plant

$65.00 AUD

These beauties display striking colourful foliage, with contrasting green and deep red/purple tones. They thrive in low to moderate light and love humidity. Water a little, often, and keep humidity up by misting leaves, using a humidifier and/or placing in a bathroom.

Our large plants are in 170mm gardener's pots. They are presented in a custom made hessian planter pouch with a personalised postcard and care instructions.

Non-toxic to pets.

CARE GUIDE
All of our indoor plants are thoughtfully selected for their easy-to-care-for nature.

You’ll find specific care instructions below, but don’t worry - whether you’re treating yourself or sending a gift, we’ll include simple care instructions with your order to help your plant thrive.

CARE LEVEL

A little extra care required – but totally worth it for those stunning patterned leaves! Best for plant lovers who don’t mind a bit of attention.

LIGHT

Prefers bright, indirect light. Too much sun can fade or burn the delicate leaf patterns. Low light is tolerated but may slow growth and dull colours.

WATER

Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top few centimetres feel dry. Use filtered or rainwater if possible – Calatheas are sensitive to fluoride and salts in tap water.

HUMIDITY

Loves high humidity! Keep near a humidifier, mist regularly, or pop it in a bathroom. Dry air can cause crispy leaf edges.

FEEDING

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a gentle liquid fertiliser. No feeding needed during cooler months.

LEAF CARE

Wipe gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and admire those striking patterns. Trim any crispy edges with clean scissors.

PET FRIENDLY?

Yes! Calathea Makoyana is non-toxic and safe for pets and little ones.

EXTRA TIPS

Leaves curling or browning? Usually a sign of dry air, inconsistent watering, or poor water quality | Rotate occasionally for even growth | Folds its leaves upward at night – it’s not wilting, just doing its thing!

WHEN AND HOW TO RE-POT
Your Hello Botanical plant gift can happily remain in the plastic gardener’s pot and our hessian pot cover for 3-6 months or more. Indoor plants do best if they are left in the plastic gardener's pot for at least a few months. When it is time to re-pot, it's best to re-pot up (into a slightly larger pot) to promote continued growth. You may like to add-on a Mr Kitly selfwatering pot to your plant gift (size 170mm for our small plants, size 250mm for our large plants). We provide individualised advice on how and when to re-pot, per plant, per recipient. We include an information leaflet with your gift, and are available by email or DM anytime for further advice.
IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFO
The plant gift delivery fee ranges between $15 and $40. For indoor plant deliveries, we exclusively use premium door to door courier services and only deliver locally (Melbourne and Geelong), to ensure their healthy and fast arrival.
