- CARE GUIDE
-
All of our indoor plants are thoughtfully selected for their easy-to-care-for nature.
You’ll find specific care instructions below, but don’t worry - whether you’re treating yourself or sending a gift, we’ll include simple care instructions with your order to help your plant thrive.
CARE LEVEL
Moderate – thrives with consistent care and attention to watering and lighting. A great choice for plant parents with some experience or those ready to level up from beginner-friendly plants.LIGHT
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its signature round, coin-shaped leaves. Will tolerate lower light but may grow leggy and lose its compact shape. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch delicate foliage.WATER
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess to drain. Pilea prefers slightly moist soil but is sensitive to overwatering. In winter, reduce frequency as growth slows. Always ensure the pot has good drainage.HUMIDITY
Tolerates average household humidity well. No special requirements, but the plant will appreciate a slightly more humid environment, especially in drier seasons or climates.FEEDING
Feed every 4 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser at half strength. Pause feeding in autumn and winter.LEAF CARE
Gently wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them vibrant. Rotate the plant weekly to encourage even growth and prevent it from leaning toward the light.PET FRIENDLY?
Yes! Pilea peperomioides is non-toxic and safe for pets and children.EXTRA TIPS
• Drooping leaves? Likely underwatering or a sign it needs repotting.
• Yellowing leaves? Usually a sign of overwatering.
• Produces “pups” or baby plants at the base – these can be separated and repotted.
• Repot annually in spring to refresh the soil and encourage healthy growth. - WHEN AND HOW TO RE-POT
- Your Hello Botanical plant gift can happily remain in the plastic gardener’s pot and our hessian pot cover for 2-3 months or more. Indoor plants do best if they are left in the plastic gardener's pot for at least a few months. When it is time to re-pot, it's best to re-pot up (into a slightly larger pot) to promote continued growth. You may like to add-on a Mr Kitly selfwatering pot to your plant gift (size 170mm for our small plants, size 250mm for our large plants). We provide individualised advice on how and when to re-pot, per plant, per recipient. We include an information leaflet with your gift, and are available by email or DM anytime for further advice.
