- CARE GUIDE
-
All of our indoor plants are thoughtfully selected for their easy-to-care-for nature.
You’ll find specific care instructions below, but don’t worry - whether you’re treating yourself or sending a gift, we’ll include simple care instructions with your order to help your plant thrive.
CARE LEVEL
Moderate – sensitive but rewarding. Once you dial in humidity and watering, it becomes a very manageable, velvety showpiece.LIGHT
Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sun can scorch its soft, fuzzy leaves, while low light slows growth. A spot with filtered light or gentle morning sun works perfectly.WATER
Keep the soil evenly moist, never soggy. Water when the top inch feels dry. This calathea dislikes hard tap water – use filtered, distilled, or rested water to avoid leaf browning.HUMIDITY
High humidity is essential. Aim for 60%+. Great locations include kitchens and bathrooms, or pair it with a humidifier. Dry air = crispy edges.FEEDING
Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. No feeding in late autumn or winter when growth slows.LEAF CARE
Dust gently with a soft cloth – the fuzzy leaves bruise easily, so avoid heavy wiping. Trim any brown tips following the natural shape of the leaf for a tidy appearance.PET FRIENDLY?
Yes! Like other calatheas, it’s non-toxic to pets and humans.EXTRA TIPS
Keep it warm and away from drafts – this plant hates cold | Curling or crispy leaves usually mean low humidity or mineral-heavy water | Rotate weekly for even growth | Don’t worry if leaves move – it’s a prayer plant and naturally shifts throughout the day. - WHEN AND HOW TO RE-POT
- Your Hello Botanical plant gift can happily remain in the plastic gardener’s pot and our hessian pot cover for 2-3 months or more. Indoor plants do best if they are left in the plastic gardener's pot for at least a few months. When it is time to re-pot, it's best to re-pot up (into a slightly larger pot) to promote continued growth. You may like to add-on a Mr Kitly selfwatering pot to your plant gift (size 170mm for our small plants, size 250mm for our large plants). We provide individualised advice on how and when to re-pot, per plant, per recipient. We include an information leaflet with your gift, and are available by email or DM anytime for further advice.
- IMPORTANT DELIVERY INFO
- The plant gift delivery fee ranges between $15 and $40. For indoor plant deliveries, we exclusively use premium door to door courier services and only deliver locally (Melbourne and Geelong), to ensure their healthy and fast arrival.
